Purpose of the Seminar

With the development of information and communication technology, the potential of production and dissemination of official statistics have been expanded.

Big Data can potentially be used in the compilation of official statistics for the purpose of evidence-based decision making. Innovations are needed in the daily production of official statistics, which requires real partnerships with the private sector, new skills and infrastructure, and clear links between available Big Data sources and the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) indicators.

Furthermore, the need for disseminating official statistics systematically in easy access to disaggregated data in keeping with consistency among data has been strengthened.

This Seminar aims at sharing experience and finding challenges for statistical capacity building for development of production and dissemination of official statistics with new data sources.
