The 28th Japanese Statistical Mission to Korea
The 28th Japanese Statistical Mission to Korea headed by Mr. Takashi INOUE, Vice President, National Statistics Center (NSTAC), visited Korea from 11 to 16 March 2019.
They had discussions with the staff of Statistics Korea (KOSTAT) concerning Recent Development in Statistical Surveys of Business Activities (Creation of the Survey of Economic Structure), Secondary Use of Statistical Micro Data and Data Processing of Economic Census for Business Activity.
In addition, the mission visited Jeju Branch Office and Jeju Special Self-governing Province Government Office, and exchanged information about statistical works in local area.
Japan and Korea have been cooperating with each other through the exchange of statistical missions almost every year since 1982. The missions aim to develop official statistics of both countries, and have served as opportunities to discuss the experiences and challenges between the two offices with regard to a wide range of statistical issues, such as organization, surveys, tabulation and data provision, and circumstances of local statistical organizations.

- The population aged 15 to 64 was 75,440 thousand, a decrease of 524 thousand (0.69 percent) from the previous year.
- The population aged 65 and over was 35,546 thousand, an increase of 440 thousand (1.25 percent) from the previous year.

Unincorporated Enterprise Survey (Trend survey) (October to December 2018)
- The sales per establishment for October-December 2018 increased by 3.8 % in ?Services? and decreased by 2.3 % in ?Manufacturing ?, 5.7 % in ?Wholesale and retail trade?, 1.6 % in ?Accommodations and food services? , respectively over the previous year (corresponding period).

The net operating profit per establishment for October-December 2018 increased by 17.1 % in ?Wholesale and retail trade? and decreased by 3.9 % in ?Manufacturing?, 0.5 % in ?Accommodations and food services? and 1.1 % in ?Services?, respectively over the previous year (corresponding period).

Monthly Report on Internal Migration in Japan (January 2019)
- The number of internal migrants (All nationalities) was 336,203, an increase of 7,831 (2.4 %) from the previous year.
- The number of inter-prefectural migrants (All nationalities) was 151,015, an increase of 4,355 (3.0 %) from the previous year.
- The number of intra-prefectural migrants (All nationalities) was 185,188, an increase of 3,476 (1.9 %) from the previous year.
- The number of internal migrants (Japanese) was 302,485, an increase of 5,968 (2.0 %) from the previous year.
- The number of inter-prefectural migrants (Japanese) was 133,342, an increase of 3,283 (2.5 %) from the previous year.

- The number of employed persons in January 2019 was 66.28 million, an increase of 660 thousand or 1.0 % from the previous year.
- The number of unemployed persons in January 2019 was 1.66 million, an increase of 70 thousand or 4.4 % from the previous year.
