NEWS HIGHLIGHTS
The 3rd Country-Focused Training in Japan for Project for Developing Statistical Quality System at CAPMAS
7 officials from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) of Egypt visited Japan from 29 September to 20 October as a training course of ?Project for Developing Statistical Quality System at CAPMAS? to learn Japanese experiences of implementation methods of surveys in the fields of population and households such as the Population Census.
After a cordial welcome by senior officials of the Statistics Bureau of Japan (SBJ), they deepened their understanding towards the activities of the SBJ, survey methods of various surveys including the Population Census, Labour Force Survey, Family Income and Expenditure Survey and Survey on Time Use and Leisure Activities. They also learned IT-related initiatives such as statistical GIS, Open data and API.
Furthermore, they visited Wakayama Prefecture to learn experiences and information on the statistical activities and systems of the Wakayama Prefectural Government and exchanged views with prefectural officers. They also visited the Statistical Data Utilization Center in Wakayama.
The SBJ has supported CAPMAS to develop statistical quality system, cooperating with this project produced by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) since 2016. This third country-focused training in Japan was conducted following the first training (23 September to 15 October in 2017) and the second training (11 February to 4 March in 2018).

"Monthly Report on Internal Migration in Japan" (August 2018)
- The number of internal migrants (All nationalities) was 391,505 an increase of 8,130 (2.1 %) from the previous year.
- The number of inter-prefectural migrants (All nationalities) was 178,024, an increase of 4,127 (2.4 %) from the previous year.
- The number of intra-prefectural migrants (All nationalities) was 213,481, an increase of 4,003 (1.9 %) from the previous year.
- The number of internal migrants (Japanese) was 352,992, an increase of 2,924 (0.8 %) from the previous year.
