NEWS HIGHLIGHTS

The 3rd Japanese Statistical Delegation to Vietnam

   The 3rd Japanese Statistical Delegation to Vietnam headed by Mr. IWASA Tetsuya, Senior Adviser for Advanced Statistical Data Utilization, SBJ visited Vietnam from 22 to 26 September 2025.
  They had discussions with the officials of National Statistics Office of Vietnam (NSO) concerning "Issues in conducting statistical surveys", "Latest challenges on ICT" and "Human resource development of statistical experts."
  In addition, the delegation visited Ninh Binh Provincial Statistics Office and exchanged information about statistical works in local area.
  The delegation exchange is based on the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) between NSO (formerly General Statistics Office) and SBJ which was signed on January 14, 2015, to establish the basis for in depth cooperation between the two sides in the area of official statistics and other related fields of mutual interests.

Participants of the Training Course by UNSIAP visited the SBJ

   On September 26, 2025, seventeen participants of "Training Course on Theory and Practices in Official Statistics for Monitoring SDGs" by United Nations Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (UNSIAP) visited the SBJ as part of the training course. They received lectures on "Overview of the Statistics Bureau," "Outline of Inter-Ministry Information System for Official Statistics and Online Survey System" and so on.

The 32nd Japanese Statistical Mission to China

  The 32nd Japanese Statistical Mission to China headed by Mr. KURIHARA Naoki, Director-General, Statistical Research and Training Institute (SRTI), Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), visited China from October 20 to 24, 2025.
  The mission visited the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS) and after exchanging greetings with Ms. RUAN Jianhong, Deputy Commissioner of the NBS, they engaged in lively discussions with the NBS staff concerning statistical human resource development, promotion of online surveys, and development of the systematic maintenance of business statistics and rationalization of the implementation system.
  In addition, the mission visited Sichuan Province and exchanged information about statistical works in local area with Mr. JIANG Yong, Deputy Director-General of the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Statistics.
  The SBJ and the NBS have been cooperating with each other through the exchange of statistical missions almost every year since 1980. The missions aim to develop official statistics of both countries, and have served as opportunities to discuss the experiences and challenges between the two offices with regard to a wide range of statistical issues, such as organization, surveys, tabulation and data provision, and circumstances of local statistical organizations.
