Fiscal 2019 Budget for the Statistics Bureau and the Director-General for Policy Planning (Statistical Standards) Approved
The Japanese government's budget for fiscal year 2019 was passed by the Diet on March 27, 2019. The nation's budget for general account spending is approximately 101.5 trillion yen, which marked a record high.
The total budget for the Statistics Bureau and the Director-General for Policy Planning (Statistical Standards), excluding regular personnel expenses, is approximately 29.6 billion yen.

Monthly Report on Internal Migration in Japan (February 2019)
- The number of internal migrants (All nationalities) was 369,900, an increase of 9,399 (2.6 %) from the previous year.
- The number of inter-prefectural migrants (All nationalities) was 160,946, an increase of 5,835 (3.8 %) from the previous year.
- The number of intra-prefectural migrants (All nationalities) was 208,954, an increase of 3,564 (1.7 %) from the previous year.
- The number of internal migrants (Japanese) was 334,916, an increase of 7,341 (2.2 %) from the previous year.
- The number of inter-prefectural migrants (Japanese) was 142,959, an increase of 4,942 (3.6 %) from the previous year.

"Current Population Estimates" (As of October 1st, 2018)
- The total population was 126,443 thousand, a decrease of 263 thousand compared with the previous year. Both the total population and Japanese population decreased for the eighth year in a row.
- The population aged 15 to 64 was 59.7 % of the total population. This figure was the lowest ever since 1950.
- The migration change of the foreign population was positive for six consecutive years.
- The population increased in 7 prefectures including Tokyo-to, while the natural increase was only seen in Okinawa-ken.

The percentage of the population aged 75 and over exceeds the percentage of the population under 15 years old in 44 prefectures.
