NEWS HIGHLIGHTS
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) co-hosted the Seventh Global Forum on Gender Statistics together with the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD)
The Seventh Global Forum on Gender Statistics, organized by MIC and UNSD under the guidance of the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on Gender Statistics, was held in Tokyo for the first time in East Asia from 14 to 16 November 2018.
The event brought together over 160 producers and users of gender statistics from national statistical offices, other governmental and international agencies, academia, civil society and the donor community.
The State Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, Mr. Junji Suzuki made the opening remarks, followed by welcome video messages from Mr. Stefan Schweinfest, Director, UNSD.
The Forum provided a platform to discuss the way forward to improve data and evidence for gender policies given the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. - The number of internal migrants (All nationalities) was 331,718 a decrease of 13,159 (3.8 %) from the previous year.
- The number of inter-prefectural migrants (All nationalities) was 147,762, a decrease of 6,029 (3.9 %) from the previous year.
