31st Population Census Conference

From November 29 to December 1, 2022, the SBJ co-hosted the 31st Population Census Conference in Tokyo, Japan, with the Association of National Census and Statistics Directors of America, Asia and the Pacific (ANCSDAAP). As a representative of the host country, Ms. OMI Asako, State Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan, made the opening remarks at the opening session of the conference.

The conference was attended by around 40 face-to-face participants and 4 online participants from 20 countries and international organizations. The theme of the conference was "The Impact of COVID-19 on the 2020 Round of Censuses and How to Overcome the Ensuing Challenges." During the conference, the participants discussed topics such as the impacts and future challenges of the implementation of the population census under the COVID-19 pandemic.
