II-3 By Capital Segment, Foreign Capital Ratio
(1) By Capital Segment
The number of enterprises substantially increased in the capital segment of "less than 3 million yen."
The number of enterprises by capital segment was the highest in "10 to less than 30 million yen" with 607,000 enterprises (40.1 % of the total enterprises), followed by "3 to less than 5 million yen" with 557,000 (36.8 %), "5 to less than 10 million yen" with 189,000 (12.5 %) and so on. The number of enterprises with "less than 30 million yen" accounted for about 90 %of the total enterprises.
Compared with 2001, the number of enterprises substantially increased in "less than 3 million" by 46.0 %, whereas it decreased in "10 to less than 30 million yen " by 9.8 %, "5 to less than 10 million yen" by 8.1 %, "3 to less than 5 million yen" by 5.0 % and so on (Table II-3).

(2) By Foreign Capital Ratio
Foreign capital ratio was high in "Information and Communications."
Concerning the number of enterprises by foreign capital ratio, 1,511,000 enterprises (99.7 % of the total enterprises) had a foreign capital ratio of "0 %," and 2,000 enterprises (0.1 % of the total) had "0 to less than 50 %" or "100 %."
By major industrial group, the number of enterprises with a foreign capital ratio of "0 to less than 50 %" was large in "Electricity, Gas, Heat, Supply and Water," "50 to less than 100 %" was large in "Information and Communications," and "100 %" was large in "Information and Communications" and "Finance and Insurance" (Table II-4, Fig. II-2).
