I-6 Dispatched or Subcontracted Employees
In "Information and Communications," the percentage of "dispatched or subcontracted employees" to the total persons engaged was high.
The number of "dispatched or subcontracted employees from establishments under separate management" was 2,810,000, accounting for 5.1 % of the total persons engaged in business. By major industrial group, this percentage was the highest in "Information and Communications" (12.2 %), followed by "Manufacturing" (9.6 %), "Finance and Insurance" (8.3 %), and others.
By major industrial group, the number of "dispatched or subcontracted employees" working at establishments was the highest in "Manufacturing" with 1,028,000 (36.6 % of the total number of "dispatched or subcontracted employees from establishments under separate management"), followed by "Wholesale and Retail Trade" with 474,000 (16.9 %), "Services, N.E.C." with 308,000 (11.0 %) and so on (Table I-26, Fig. I-14).

In "Department stores and general merchandise supermarkets," "dispatched or subcontracted employees" occupied about 20 %.
In minor industrial groups with more than 100,000 person engaged in business at establishments, the percentage of "dispatched or subcontracted employees from establishments under separate management" was the highest in "Department stores and general merchandise supermarkets" at 24.8 %, followed by "Electronic data processing machines, digital and analog computers, equipment and accessories" at 21.7 %, "Communication equipment and related products" at 21.1 %, and so on (Table I-27).
