Economic Census

2009 Census

  The Economic Census was newly created, as requested by the "Basic Policy for Economic and Fiscal Management and Structural Reform (Basic Policy) 2005" (adopted by the Cabinet on June 21, 2005) etc., with the unification/abolishment, simplification and/or rationalization of large statistical surveys, such as the Establishment and Enterprise Census.
  The 2009 Economic Census will be conducted as of July 1, 2009, and covers all establishments and enterprises in Japan. The survey method is one of the following: an enumerator visits and distributes Questionnaires, or the central government(MIC)/prefecture/municipal authority distributes Questionnaires.
  For enterprises with branches, the head offices are requested to fill in Questionnaires for branches.
