The 30th Japanese Statistical Mission to China

The 30th Japanese Statistical Mission to China headed by Mr. Takashi INOUE, Vice President, National Statistics Center, visited China from 6 to 11 November 2017.

They discussed with the staff of the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS) concerning Economic Census and Statistical Business Register, Secondary Use of Official Statistical Data, and Statistical Education and Training in China.

In addition, the mission visited Zhengzhou, and exchanged information about Local statistics work and the Economic Census in Henan.

Japan and China have been cooperating with each other through the exchange of statistical missions almost every year since 1980. The missions aim to develop official statistics of both countries, and have served as opportunities to discuss the experiences and challenges between the two offices with regard to a wide range of statistical issues, such as organization, surveys, tabulation and data provision, and circumstances of local statistical organizations.

Men's suits: up 18.8 % in nominal terms and 16.7 % in real terms

Chest of drawers: down 16.9 % in nominal terms and 18.7 % in real terms
Air conditioners: down 6.1% in nominal terms and 9.0 % in real terms

The total population was 126.72 million, a decrease of 0.22 million (0.17 percent) from the previous year.

- As of June 1, 2017 (Final estimates)
[Total Population]

The total population was 126,766 thousand, a decrease of 203 thousand (0.16 percent) from the previous year.
The population under 15 years old was 15,663 thousand, a decrease of 183 thousand (1.15 percent) from the previous year.
The population aged 15 to 64 was 76,121 thousand, a decrease of 607 thousand (0.79 percent) from the previous year.
The population aged 65 and over was 34,982 thousand, an increase of 586 thousand (1.71 percent) from the previous year.

Japanese population was 124,740 thousand, a decrease of 351 thousand (0.28 percent) from the previous year.

Unincorporated Enterprise Survey (Trend survey) (July to September 2017)

The sales per establishment for July-September 2017 increased by 16.2 % in "Manufacturing ", 0.3 % in "Wholesale and retail trade", 6.5 % in "Accommodations and food services" and 4.4% in "Services", respectively over the previous year (corresponding period).
The net operating profit per establishment for July-September 2017 increased by 14.9 % in "Wholesale and retail trade", 6.0 % in "Accommodations and food services", 5.4 % in "Services" and decreased by 1.9 % in "Manufacturing", respectively over the previous year (corresponding period).

"Monthly Report on Internal Migration in Japan" (October 2017)

The number of internal migrants (All nationalities) was 388,250, an increase of 20,566 (5.6 %) from the previous year.
The number of inter-prefectural migrants (All nationalities) was 174,692, an increase of 8,746 (5.3 %) from the previous year.
The number of intra-prefectural migrants (All nationalities) was 213,558, an increase of 11,820 (5.9 %) from the previous year.
The number of internal migrants (Japanese) was 350,369, an increase of 15,257 (4.6 %) from the previous year.
The number of inter-prefectural migrants (Japanese) was 155,947, an increase of 5,900 (3.9 %) from the previous year.
The number of intra-prefectural migrants (Japanese) was 194,422, an increase of 9,357 (5.1 %) from the previous year.

"Labour Force Survey (Basic Tabulation)" (October 2017)

The number of employed persons in October 2017 was 65.81 million, an increase of 610 thousand or 0.9 % from the previous year.
The number of unemployed persons in October 2017 was 1.81 million, a decrease of 140 thousand or 7.2 % from the previous year.
The unemployment rate, seasonally adjusted, was 2.8 %.

Consumer Price Index (2015-base) (Japan October2017, Ku-area of Tokyo November 2017(preliminary))

The consumer price index for Japan in October 2017 was 100.6 (2015=100), up 0.2 % over the year before seasonal adjustment, and the same level as the previous month on a seasonally adjusted basis.
The consumer price index for Ku-area of Tokyo in November 2017 (preliminary) was 100.6 (2015=100), up 0.3 % over the year before seasonal adjustment, and up 0.8 % from the previous month on a seasonally adjusted basis.

Family Income and Expenditure Survey (Two-or-more-person Households: October 2017)

Expenditures for Two-or-more-person Households

The average of monthly consumption expenditures per household for October 2017 was 282,872 yen, up 0.3 % in nominal terms but remain unchanged in real terms from the previous year.
Income and Expenditures for Workers' Households

The average of monthly income per household stood at 501,416 yen, up 3.2 % in nominal terms and up 2.9 % in real terms from the previous year.

The average of consumption expenditures per household was 313,733 yen, up 2.6 % in nominal terms and up 2.3 % in real terms from the previous year.
