NEWS HIGHLIGHTS

Project for Developing Statistical Quality System at CAPMAS (Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics)

  The "Project for Developing Statistical Quality System at CAPMAS (Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics)" in Egypt has been implemented since March 2016. This three-year project is implemented by CAPMAS and is supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), while the Statistics Bureau of Japan (SBJ), and the Statistical Research and Training Institute (SRTI) in cooperation with the National Statistics Center (NSTAC), etc. support the implementation of the 2016 Population and Housing Census, etc. in Egypt.
  Additionally, in this project, the SBJ provides cooperation and training in order to build and improve the capacity of CAPMAS staff for effective management for the 2016 Population and Housing Census and other statistical studies in Egypt. The SBJ plans to send statistical experts to CAPMAS and also accept trainees from CAPMAS.

  • TV: down 30.8% in nominal terms and 40.2% in real terms
  • Women's one-piece dresses and suits: down 13.3% in nominal terms and 14.9% in real terms

Family Income and Expenditure Survey (Two-or-more-person Households: March 2016)

  • Expenditures for Two-or-more-person Households

    The average of monthly consumption expenditures per household for March 2016 was 300,889 yen, down 5.3% in nominal terms and down 5.3% in real terms from the previous year.

  • Income and Expenditures for Workers' Households

    The average of monthly income per household stood at 450,698 yen, up 0.3% in nominal terms and up 0.3% in real terms from the previous year.

    The average of consumption expenditures per household was 334,609 yen, down 4.9% in nominal terms and down 4.9% in real terms from the previous year.

"Monthly Report on Internal Migration in Japan" (March 2016)

  • The number of internal migrants (All nationalities) was 945,834, a decrease of 21,554 (2.2%) from the previous year.
  • The number of inter-prefectural migrants (All nationalities) was 508,812, a decrease of 6,140 (1.2%) from the previous year.
  • The number of intra-prefectural migrants (All nationalities) was 437,022, a decrease of 15,414 (3.4%) from the previous year.

"Annual Report (Detailed Tabulation) on Internal Migration in Japan" (2015)

  • The rate of inter-prefectural migration was 1.87%, the first increase since 1995.
  • The rate of positive net-migration for Tokyo-to was 0.63%, the fourth consecutive increase.

  • The consumer price index for Japan in March 2016 was 103.3 (2010=100), up 0.1% from the previous month, and down 0.1% over the year.

  • The number of employed persons in March 2016 was 63.39 million, an increase of 200 thousand or 0.3% from the previous year.

  • The unemployment rate, seasonally adjusted, was 3.2%.
