NEWS HIGHLIGHTS

The 29th Japanese Statistical Mission to China

  The 29th Japanese Statistical Mission to China headed by Mr. Satohisa INAMI, Executive Adviser / Former Director-General of Statistical Bureau of Japan (SBJ), visited China from 16 to 21 November 2015.
  They discussed with the staff of the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS) about China's Statistical System and its Challenges, Public Relations Activities in Statistics, Implementation Status of the 1% Population Sampling Survey in 2015, and the Result of the 2013 Economic Census and Challenges of the 2018 Economic Census.
  In addition, the mission visited Chengdu, and exchanged information about Local statistics work and the implementation of the 1% Population Sampling Census.
  Japan and China have been cooperating with each other through the exchange of statistical missions almost every year since 1980. The missions aim to develop official statistics of both countries, and have served as opportunities to discuss the experiences and challenges between the two offices with regard to a wide range of statistical issues, such as organization, surveys, tabulation and data provision, and circumstances of local statistical organizations.

Unincorporated Enterprise Survey (Trend survey) (July to September 2015)

  • The sales per establishment for July-September 2015 increased by 1.6% in "Accommodations and food services", and decreased by 0.2% in "Manufacturing" and 13.0% in "Wholesale and retail trade" and 1.2% in "Services", respectively over the previous year (corresponding period).
  • The net operating profit per establishment for July-September 2015 increased by 7.8% in "Manufacturing" and 3.0% in "Services", and decreased by 1.1% in "Wholesale and retail trade" and 12.4% in "Accommodations and food services", respectively over the previous year (corresponding period).

"Monthly Report on Internal Migration in Japan" (October 2015)

  • The number of internal migrants (All nationalities) was 406,352, an increase of 26,036(6.8%) from the previous year.
  • The number of inter-prefectural migrants (All nationalities) was 179,300, an increase of 15,318 (9.3%) from the previous year.
  • The number of intra-prefectural migrants (All nationalities) was 227,052, an increase of 10,718 (5.0%) from the previous year.
  • The number of internal migrants (Japanese) was 374,565, an increase of 21,786 (6.2%) from the previous year.
  • The number of inter-prefectural migrants (Japanese) was 164,326, an increase of 13,261 (8.8%) from the previous year.
  • The number of intra-prefectural migrants (Japanese) was 210,239, an increase of 8,525 (4.2%) from the previous year.

  • The number of employed persons in October 2015 was 64.32 million, an increase of 420 thousand or 0.7% from the previous year.
  • The number of unemployed persons in October 2015 was 2.08 million, a decrease of 250 thousand or 10.7% from the previous year.
  • The unemployment rate, seasonally adjusted, was 3.1%.

    The average of monthly consumption expenditures per household for October 2015 was 282,401 yen, down 2.1% in nominal terms and down 2.4% in real terms from the previous year.

  • Income and Expenditures for Workers' Households

    The average of monthly income per household stood at 485,330 yen, down 0.6% in nominal terms and down 0.9% in real terms from the previous year.

    The average of consumption expenditures per household was 309,761 yen, down 2.0% in nominal terms and down 2.3% in real terms from the previous year.

2014 Economic Census for Business Frame (Complete Tabulation)

  • As of July 1, 2014, the number of privately owned establishments in Japan was 5,779,072 (up 0.2% from the 2012 Economic Census for Business Activity).
  • The number of persons engaged was 57.428 million (up 2.8% from the same).
  • The number of enterprises in Japan was 4,098,284.
  • The amount of sales (income) of enterprises in 2013 was 1377.7 trillion yen (up 3.2% from the same).
