NEWS HIGHLIGHTS

The delegation from Vietnam visited the Statistics Bureau of Japan

  The delegation from Vietnam, headed by Mr. Nguyen Van Lieu, Deputy Director-General, General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO), visited SBJ from October 19 to 23, 2015, to learn the utilization method of ICT in the field of statistics.
  During the visit, they exchanged greetings with the senior officials of SBJ, and were given information on several topics by the SBJ staff: Outline of the Statistics Bureau, Outline of the Portal Site of Official Statistics of Japan (e-Stat), Project of Open Data for Official Statistics, Relationship between Statistics and Big data, and Outline of "The Report on Internal Migration in Japan", etc.
  On October 22, they paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Atsushi KOGA, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications.
  Their visit is based on the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) between GSO and SBJ, which was signed on January 14, 2015, to establish the basis for in depth cooperation between both sides in the area of statistics and other related fields of mutual interests.

  On November 4, 14 statistical officials of the participants in the "Knowledge Co-Creation Program (Young Leaders) for Thailand/ Policy on Information and Communication Technology Course" of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), visited SBJ to learn about the statistical works in Japan.

"Monthly Report on Internal Migration in Japan" (September 2015)

  • The number of internal migrants (All nationalities) was 394,589, an increase of 33,799(9.4%) from the previous year.
  • The number of inter-prefectural migrants (All nationalities) was 172,457, an increase of 12,057 (7.5%) from the previous year.
  • The number of intra-prefectural migrants (All nationalities) was 222,132, an increase of 21,742 (10.8%) from the previous year.
  • The number of internal migrants (Japanese) was 366,577, an increase of 30,734 (9.2%) from the previous year.
  • The number of inter-prefectural migrants (Japanese) was 159,134, an increase of 10,765 (7.3%) from the previous year.
  • The number of intra-prefectural migrants (Japanese) was 207,443, an increase of 19,969 (10.7%) from the previous year.

  • Expenditures for Two-or-more-person Households

    The average of monthly consumption expenditures per household for September 2015 was 274,309 yen, down 0.3% in nominal terms and down 0.4% in real terms from the previous year.

  • Income and Expenditures for Workers' Households

    The average of monthly income per household stood at 415,467 yen, down 1.5% in nominal terms and down 1.6% in real terms from the previous year.

    The average of consumption expenditures per household was 298,733 yen, down 1.6% in nominal terms and down 1.7% in real terms from the previous year.
