NEWS HIGHLIGHT

The 28th Chinese Statistical Mission to Japan



   The 28th statistical mission from China, headed by Mr. Xian Zude, Chief Statistician, NBS, visited Japan from February 6 to 11, 2012.


   They discussed several topics with the SBJ staff: program design, data collection, data quality control and data dissemination of the Family Income and Expenditure Survey.


   In addition, the mission visited the Kagoshima Prefectural Government and exchanged information on the statistical activities of local governments.


   Japan and China have been cooperating to dispatch and invite statistical missions almost every year since 1980. The main purpose of this program is to develop official statistics for both governments. The missions have included discussions on their experiences and challenges with regard to statistical issues, such as organization, surveys, tabulation and data provision, and circumstances of local statistical organizations.


   The members of the 28th mission were as follows:

   Mr. Xian Zude          Chief Statistician, NBS

   Mr. Sun Qingguo     Deputy Director-General, Department of Statistical Design and Management

   Ms. Guan Bing         Director, General Affairs Division, Office of Household Survey

   Mr. Liu Jianjun        Director, Administrative Office, Research Institute of Statistical Sciences
