The Twenty-Sixth Japanese Statistical Mission to China
The twenty-sixth Japanese Statistical Mission to China headed by Mr. Kenichi KOMAGATA, Director-General of Statistical Survey Department, SBJ, visited China from December 8 to 12, 2009.
They met Mr. Xie Hongguang, Deputy Director-General, and other senior staff members of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China concerning state of preparation of the 2010 Population Census and implementation of the 2008 Economic Census, and management structure and operational status of the Business Register.
In addition, the mission visited Xiamen, and exchanged information about implementation structure of statistics in the local governmental organizations with the staff of Fujian Provincial Statistics Bureau and Xiamen Municipal Statistics Bureau.
Japan and China have been cooperating with each other through the exchange of statistical missions almost every year since 1980. The missions aim to develop official statistics of both countries, and have served as opportunities to discuss the experiences and challenges between the two offices with regard to a wide range of statistical issues, such as organization, surveys, tabulation and data provision, and circumstances of local statistical organizations.
