Fiscal 2009 Budget for the Statistics Bureau and Director-General for Policy Planning (Statistical Standards)
The Japanese government's budget for fiscal year 2009 was passed by the Diet on 29 March, 2009. The nation's budget for general account spending is 88.6 trillion yen, representing an increase for three consecutive years from the initial budget for 2007. The total budget for the Statistics Bureau of Japan (SBJ) and the Director-General for Policy Planning (Statistical Standards), excluding regular personnel expenses, is approximately 27.7 billion yen, an increase of 2.6 % compared with the previous fiscal year.
The increase is affected by the budget for the implementation for the 2009 Economic Census for Business Frame, to which approximately 5.0 billion yen is allocated, and that for the National Survey of Family Income and Expenditure, to which approximately 2.3 billion yen is allocated, as well as the preparation for the 2010 Population Census, to which approximately 2.1 billion yen is allocated, including the demarcation of the enumeration districts and a pilot survey.
