Implementation of Regular Surveys Taking into Consideration Countermeasures against the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)
(Labour Force Survey, Family Income and Expenditure Survey, Retail Price Survey)
The Statistics Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications conducts the Labour Force Survey, Family Income and Expenditure Survey, and the Retail Price Survey every month.
The results of these surveys are essential for understanding the impact of COVID-19 on our society and economy and for the government to take measures adequately.
We will clarify the current socioeconomic circumstances by securely conducting the surveys while taking utmost care in preventing the infection.
We would also like to ask for people’s understanding on the importance of statistical surveys and for their continuous cooperation.
Measures to prevent infection
In order to securely conduct regular surveys while trying to prevent infection, we are introducing survey methods such as using online that reduce the face-to-face contact between the survey target and enumerator as much as possible. At the same time, we ensure thorough health monitoring of enumerators to prevent enumerators who are in poor health from visiting households and offices. We also implement measures to prevent droplet infection based on the governmental measures, including cough etiquette.
