2. Liabilities by sex and age group
Looking at liabilities by age group, men in their 40s had the most with 5.31 million yen, followed in order by 3.05 million yen for those in their 30s and 2.97 million yen for those in their 50s. Women in their 40s also had the most with 4.08 million yen, followed in order by 2.48 million yen for those in their 30s and 1.54 million yen for those in their 50s. Also, looking at the types of liabilities those in their 40s had, men?s liabilities for purchase of houses and/or land came to 4.9 million yen and women?s 3.93 million yen, 92.2% and 96.2% shares of their respective liabilities, with liabilities for purchase of houses and/or land coming to more than 90% for men and women alike. (Figure IV-4) The share of men and women in their 40s whose households had liabilities for purchase of houses and/or land came to 28.2% and 23.3%, more than any other male or female age group. Looking at the liabilities for purchase houses and/or land when limited to households possessing liabilities for purchase houses and/or land, men in their 40s had the most with 17.37 million yen and women under 30 years old the most with 25.50 million yen. Comparing sexes, women had a higher current liabilities for purchase of houses and/or land than men in all age groups except the 40s and 50s. (Table IV-2)
