Water supplies The data is based on the "Survey on Water Supply" and the "Survey on Public Water Supply and Source Water Supply Enterprises" both of which are conducted every year on the annual turnover for the fiscal year and the status as of the end of the fiscal year by the Japan Water Works Association through prefectures. The "Survey on Water Supply" covers approved undertakings in public water supply, source water supply, small-scale water supply, and etc. submitted regularly by electric power enterprises in accordance with the provisions of the regulations on reporting regarding electricity under the Electricity Business Act. Electrical enterprises Electrical enterprises as defined by the Electricity Business Act include electricity retail industries, which supply retail electricity, regional electricity network industries, which supply transmission and distribution and adjustment energy in its service area via electrical facilities for transmission and distribution which are maintained and operated by themselves, independent electricity network industries, which supply Transportation Service via electrical facilities for transmission which are maintained and operated by themselves, site specific electricity network industries, which supply transmission and distribution to meet electricity retail industries or regional electricity network industries for other than electricity retail industries or regional electricity network industries via electrical facilities for transmission which are maintained and operated by themselves, and electricity producer industries which produce electricity to meet regional electricity network industries or site specific electricity network industries. Gas The data is based on the "Handbook of Gas Utility Industry" compiled annually by The Japan Gas Association. Statistics in these publications are tabulated from the reports on financial statements, etc. submitted regularly by gas utilities in compliance with the provisions of executive regulations under the Gas Business Act and from the Current Production Survey on Gas Utility Industry. This Yearbook presents statistics concerning general gas (town gas) utilities. Current Production Survey on Gas Utility Industry (Fundamental Statistical Survey) The survey has been conducted every month since 1951 with the aim to clarify the actual conditions of the production of gas businesses by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy. With the revision of the Gas Business Act in fiscal 1970, the simplified gas enterprises are also covered in addition to the general gas enterprises. And with the revisions of the Act in fiscal 1994 and fiscal 2004, large-scale gas providers and gas pipeline providers were respectively included. With the revision of the Gas Business Act in fiscal 2017, complete liberalization of gas retailing was implemented. Gas utilities Based on the Gus Business Act, gas utility industries means gas retail business, general gas pipeline service, specified gas pipeline service business, and gas manufacturing business. Gas retail business means the business carrying out retail supply (excluding the parts that corresponds to general gas pipeline service business, specified gas pipeline service business, gas manufacturing business). General gas pipeline service business means the business which conduct consigned supply at supply area via gas pipelines maintained and operated by itself (excluding the part that constitutes gas manufacturing business manufacturing business and business to supply by gas pipeline corresponding to the requirement defined by METI Ordinance), that include general gas pipeline business that provides a retail service (final ensuring of supply) for ensuring the supply of gas via the pipelines to meet general demand (excluding the demand covered by the retail service provided by a gas retailer). Specified gas pipeline service business means the business conducting consigned supply in the service provider's service area via pipelines that it maintains and operates. Gas manufacturing business means the business of manufacturing gas using a liquefied gas storage facility, etc. that the manufacturer maintains and operates, which satisfies the requirements specified by order of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. 306 11 エネルギー・水
