Retail Price Survey (Structural Survey)

The Retail Price Survey started in June 1950 mainly for the purpose of grasping price trends. As there had been an increasing need to understand the changes in the price structure more accurately, the survey items were added in order to grasp the price structure by clarifying the difference in prices by region. The new part consisting of additional survey items is called "Structural Survey", and the actual survey started in January 2013.
There is no change in the existing items which has been surveyed to grasp price trends. To distinguish the Structural Survey, the existing survey is called "Trend Survey". With the introduction of the "Structural Survey", the National Survey of Prices, which had been conducted once every five years, was ended after the last survey in 2007.
