Housing and Land Survey

3. Dwelling environments and kind of city planning

 DURATION OF SUNSHINE

This refers to the number of hours that sunshine entered dwelling rooms on a sunny day around the survey date, i.e., the total hours when the sunshine came into a part of a dwelling, such as dwelling rooms, passageways, and windowsills.
In the case that sunshine entered more than one room, the duration of sunshine was calculated as the period from the time that sunshine first entered one of the rooms until there was no sunshine in either room. In the case that there was a period within that time where sunshine failed to enter either room, the length of period of no sunshine was deducted. Figures included periods during which sunshine did not enter the dwelling room but did enter passageways bordering the room or fell upon the room's windowsills.
In the case that no sunshine entered the dwelling, the category of "under one hour" was designated.

WIDTH AND STATE OF PAVEMENT OF ROADS ABUTTED ON THE SITE OF HOUSING UNIT

An inquiry was made on the width and state of pavement of roads abutted on the site of housing unit.
The width includes those of sidewalks and gutters, and when there are two or more roads abutted on, then the widest one should be chosen to mention.
If the site of housing unit is abutted only on a vacant lot or a park but not on any road, or if the site touched on the road for a length less than 2 meters only, then it should be defined as "not abutted on". However, if the site is adjacent to an open ground such as a station square, such a ground should be regarded as a road of 10 meters and over wide just for convenience sake provisionally.
