II-1 The Number of Incorporated Enterprises
The number of incorporated enterprises decreased by 3.4%.
The number of incorporated enterprises (stock companies, limited companies, limited liability partnerships, unlimited liability partnerships, and mutual insurance companies, "enterprises" hereinafter) was1,617,600 as of October 1,2001, which decreased by 56,865 enterprises or 3.4% (0.7% per annum) compared with that of 1996 survey.
The number of enterprises continued to increase until 1996, and it fell in the period from 1996 to 2001 for the first time.
