I-6 Number of Persons Engaged by Employment Status (Private, Non-agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries)

Number of "full time employees" and "temporary or daily employees" decreased, whereas, the number of regular employees other than "full time employees" increased.

Number of individual proprietors, salaried directors and employees decreased in comparison with the results of 1996 survey.

Regular employees, who mean "other than full time employees" such as part-timers, increased 30.1%, accounting for 30 percent of the total employees.

In "Wholesale and Retail Trade, Eating and Drinking Places" , more than half of regular workers were "those other than full time employees" .
