I-2 By Industry

The number of persons engaged was the largest in "Services" .

By Major Industrial Group

"Wholesale and Retail Trade, Eating and Drinking Places" represented 41.0 % of the number of establishments and "Services" represented 28.8 %.

The number of establishments in the "Wholesale and Retail Trade or Eating and Drinking Places" , and "Manufacturing" businesses continued to decrease after the peak of 1986, whereas,the number of "Service" establishments increased continuously.

"Services" became the largest industry in terms of the number of persons engaged for the first time.

By the Minor Industrial Group (with persons engaged 100,000 and over )

"Services incidental to telecommunications" , "Miscellaneous health services" ,"Worker dispatching services" and "Welfare services for the aged" showed substantial growth in both number of establishments and persons engaged.
