714 29 災害・事故Road Traffic Act and resulted in deaths or injuries caused by vehicles, streetcars or trains. These statistics covering the numbers of traffic accidents, fatalities within 24 hours, persons injured, and fatalities within 30 days, are utilized effectively in formulating the government’s traffic safety measures and preventing traffic accidents. These are announced by the National Police Agency. Annual Traffic Statistics Report The Annual Traffic Statistics Report is published by the Traffic Bureau of the National Police Agency for the purpose of providing basic data for promoting measures to prevent traffic accidents. In addition to statistics on traffic accidents that occurred throughout Japan, it also includes traffic police statistics on traffic stops, traffic regulations, driver's licenses, etc., as well as basic data on population, roads, automobiles, etc. Annual Report on Railway Statistics See "13 Transport and Tourism". This chapter covers the number of operation accidents and persons killed and injured of Japan Railway Companies, private railways. Report on Marine Accident Inquiry The Report on Marine Accident Inquiries summarizes investigations and inquiries into marine accidents and is published by the Japan Marine Accident Tribunal of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for the purpose of preventing further marine accidents. This chapter covers the number of vessels involved in marine accidents by type of marine accidents and vessel and the number of casualties. Statistics of Electrical Power Safety The Statistics of Electrical Power Safety summarise accidents that occurred in relation to electric facilities such as machines, instruments, and electric lines installed for power generation, transformation, transmission, distribution, or use of electricity from the perspective of equipment and types of accidents based on annual reports on electric safety submitted to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry by electric utilities engaged in the businesses listed in the items of Article 38, Paragraph 4 of the Electricity Business Act and on electric accident reports submitted to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry or to the Director of the Regional Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry with jurisdiction over the location of electric facilities for private use by installers of electric facilities for private use. The statistics are published by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry with the aim of grasping trends in accidents at electrical facilities, and obtaining information that will be useful in examining technical standards and providing appropriate guidance to electrical facility installers in order to ensure a safe and stable supply of electricity. This chapter covers information on the number of electrical accidents by type of business operator listed in the items of Article 38, Paragraph 4 of the Electricity Business Act. Business operator listed in the items of Article 38, Paragraph 4 of the Electricity Business Act refer to for regional electricity network operator, independent electricity network operator, distribution electricity network operator, site specific electricity network operator and electricity producer (As for the electricity producer, the sum of connected system peak load of electric workpiece for specific electricity exceeding 2 million kilowatts. (exceeding 100,000 kilowatts in the service area of the Okinawa electric power, incorporated)). Up to fiscal 2015, data are for general electric utilities, wholesale electric utilities, special electric utilities and specified-scale electricity suppliers.
