Number of Assemblymen and Chiefs of Local Governments by Party The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications publishes the current status of the parties to which assembly members and chiefs of local governments who are in office as of the end of December each year belong. This survey is conducted on the number of assembly members and chiefs of local governments by party affiliation (the number of members and heads of assemblies of local governments at the time of submitting their respective candidacies pertaining to those who are in office as of 31 December of each year was totalled), the number of consecutive appointments of heads of local governments, and the number of elections held by members and heads of assemblies of local governments. This chapter reports the number of assembly members and chiefs of local governments and prefectures using the results of the survey on members and heads of assemblies of local governments by party affiliation.
