26 Culture 661Annual Report on the Publication Market The Annual Report on the Publication Market is compiled annually by The Research Institute for Publications, The All Japan Magazine and Book Publisher's and Editor's Association. The statistics presented in this Yearbook are the estimate of the dynamic state of distribution targeting the general publications that went through the route of agency (including spot sale wholesalers). Authorized textbooks, publications of direct sales route (excluding some magazine), unmarketed government publications and so on are not included. Circulation and Dissemination of Daily Newspapers by Prefecture Statistics presented in this chapter relate to the circulation of daily newspapers as of October every year, which is based on the reports submitted to the Japan Newspaper Publishers and Editors Association. A total of 106 different newspapers were covered for 2024; among which 20 newspapers are sets of morning and evening editions; 76 are morning papers; and 10 are evening papers. White Paper on Information and Communication in Japan The ICT White Paper has been published every year since 1973 by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications with the aim of gaining public understanding of the current status of ICT in Japan and trends in ICT policy. Statistical Abstract of Receiving Contracts This statistical abstract is a compilation of statistical data on the number of broadcast subscriptions as of the end of March of each fiscal year by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation based on reports from each broadcasting station. Statistics of Film Industry in Japan In January of each year, the Motion Picture Producers Association of Japan, Inc., publishes the Statistics of Film Industry in Japan for the previous year. Advertising Expenditures in Japan Dentsu Inc. estimates the advertising costs in Japan for the period of one year (January-December), covering four major media outlets (including satellite media), the Internet, and promotional media, as well as advertising production costs. Prefectural Urban Park Development Level Record With the cooperation of prefectures and municipalities across the country, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism conducts a survey of the development status of urban parks, etc. and publishes figures as of March every year in the Urban Park Database. Summary Table of Area Figures for Natural Parks The Ministry of the Environment compiles the General Table of Natural Park Areas for national parks, quasi-national parks, and prefectural natural parks specified in Article 2, Paragraph 1 of the Natural Parks Act as nature conservation data. The table is published annually as of the end of the fiscal year. National Gardens and National Cemeteries The national gardens and the Chidorigafuchi National Cemetery are maintained and managed as public property under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Environment while maintaining their historical atmospheres, beauty, and tranquility based on their characteristics. Survey on Religion This survey has been conducted annually since 1949 at the end of December every year by the Agency for Cultural Affairs with the purpose to investigate the number of religious judicial persons, etc., and to obtain
