(1) Households which manage restaurants, hotels, boarding houses or dormitories sharing their dwellings (2) Households which serve meals to the boarders even though not managing boarding houses as an occupation (3) Households with 4 or more living-in employees (4) Foreigner households (households with no one who can fill out the questionnaire in Japanese.) (5) One-person student households (6) One-person under 15 years of age (7) Residents of social institutions or inmates of reformatory institutions (nursing-care insurance institutions, etc.) (8) Inpatients in hospitals (9) Residents in the camps of the Self-Defence Forces Consumption Trend Index The Consumption Trend Index (CTI) is a reference indicator as data for analysis under development by the Statistics Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications that complements the results of Family Income and Expenditure Survey and captures trends in the whole consumption. While absorbing the household consumption index, it estimates the trend of the total amount of average consumption of households and the final consumption expenditure of household in the current month including one-person households. The CTI is composed of two series, The Household Consumption Trend Index (CTI Micro) and The Total Consumption Trend Index (CTI Macro). Starting in July 2021, the base year was set as 2020.
