278 9 鉱工業Machinery Orders This survey has been conducted monthly by the Cabinet Office in order to research the state of the order books of machinery manufacturers, and to collect basic material for analysing the direction of the economy through an early understanding of trends in capital investment in machinery. The survey on actual orders is conducted at the end of every month, and the survey on the prospects is conducted at the end of every quarter. 280 manufacturers in the major machinery sectors were selected to examine more than 80 percent coverage of the total sector when split into the major fields of industrial machinery such as engines and turbines, heavy electrical machinery, electronic and communication equipment, industrial machinery, machine tools, railway rolling stock, road vehicles, aircraft, ships and watercrafts. The data are, as of 1985; the survey of these 280 companies began in April, 1987. Statistics of Production by Pharmaceutical Industry (Fundamental Statistical Survey) This survey is collected monthly by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare with the aim of clarifying the actual production status of pharmaceuticals, quasi-pharmaceutical products, medical devices, and regenerative medical products. The survey compiles reports from manufacturers and distributors of pharmaceuticals, quasi-pharmaceutical products, medical devices, and regenerative medical products with their respective permission and is published in the form of monthly and annual reports. National Tax Agency Annual Statistics Report See "5 Public Finance”. This chapter covers the production volume of liquor by category based on liquor tax in indirect national tax. Salt Supply and Demand Results These results are compiled annually by the Ministry of Finance in accordance with the Salt Industry Act with the aim of ensuring a stable supply of high-quality salt through appropriate management of salt businesses and promoting the sound development of Japan's salt industry. The survey covers salt manufacturers, specialty salt manufacturers, specified salt distributors, specified specialty salt distributors, salt wholesalers, and salt business centres nationwide, and totals are based on sales volumes in the survey. Survey on Movement of Food Industry This Survey on Movement of Food Industry is conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to grasp conditions in the food industry. The planning and implementation of the survey and analysis of the survey results are entrusted to a bidder as soon as the budget is secured. The survey results are used to analyse monthly production of processed food made from rice, wheat, soy beans, etc., and at the end of every fiscal year, trends in processed food during the year are analysed along with factors behind any changes. This chapter covers the production of miso and soy sauce among seasonings produced from food products in the food manufacturing industry. Statistical Yearbook of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) This yearbook is released annually by MAFF. It is a comprehensive compilation of major statistics for each sector of Japan's agriculture, forestry, and fishery industry, including both the results of statistical surveys conducted by MAFF as well as the results of statistical surveys conducted by other ministries and agencies along with various organisations. This chapter covers the production of domestically produced sugar, major seasonings such as vinegar, wheat flour, soybean oil, and margarine in the section on processed agricultural and fishery products. Statistics Survey on Milk and Dairy Products (Fundamental Statistical Survey) See "8 Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries”. This chapter covers the production of butter and cheese in production of dairy products.
