15 Services Industry This chapter contains statistics on service industries, postal services and indices of tertiary industry activity. For information on Economic Census for Business Frame, see "7 Business Activities", for information on the service industry, see "12 Information and Communication", and for the leisure-related industry, see "26 Culture". Monthly Survey on Service Industries This survey has been conducted monthly by the Statistics Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, since July 2008 with the main aim to provide the best possible estimates of sales and persons working at the location of establishment for the service industries and subsequently to enhance the accuracy of economic indicators such as Quarterly Estimates (QE) of GDP. The survey covers establishments, enterprises, etc. in Japan selected based on statistical methods from those whose main industry is included in service (tertiary) industries. Sales (Income) This is sales (income) for supply of services and sales of article (including indirect tax, consumption tax, etc.) in the establishment or enterprise, etc. The sales (income) are including cost such as purchase amount and salary and total income from all operations of the establishment or enterprise, etc. However, nonbusiness interest and dividend income, such as 15 Services Industry 361
