The Fiscal 2022 Budget for the Statistics Bureau and the Director-General for Policy Planning (Statistical Policy) of Japan Approved
The Japanese government's budget for fiscal year 2022 was passed by the Diet on March 22, 2022. The nation's budget for general account spending is approximately 107.6 trillion yen, which marked a record high.
The total budget for the Statistics Bureau and the Director-General for Policy Planning (Statistical Policy) of Japan, excluding regular personnel expenses, is approximately 23.6 billion yen.

- The consumer price index for Japan was 100.7 (2020=100), up 0.9% over the year before seasonal adjustment, and up 0.5% from the previous month on a seasonally adjusted basis.

- The total population was 125,502 thousand, a decrease of 644 thousand (0.51%) from the previous year.
- The population under 15 years old was 14,784 thousand, a decrease of 247 thousand (1.65%) from the previous year.
- The population aged 15 to 64 was 74, 504 thousand, a decrease of 584 thousand (0.78%) from the previous year.
