Trainees of Statistical Institute for Asia and Pacific visited the Statistics Bureau of Japan
Fourteen trainees from the Training Course in Application of Information and Communications Technology to Production and Dissemination of Official Statistics of the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) visited the Statistics Bureau of Japan (SBJ) on 25 June, 2008.

They attended lectures on the statistical system and amendment of Statistics Act in Japan, outline of the SBJ, dissemination system at the SBJ and data collection of the Retail Price Survey including the demonstration on how to use the PDA for data collection. They had active discussions with the staff of SBJ during the lectures.
Also they learned outline of the Population Census and its tabulation system. They visited the office of the Tabulation Group of the National Statistics Center and learned how to make coding the data of the Population Census at close hand.
