Implementation of the 2020 Population Census Taking into Consideration Countermeasures against the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)
This is the year of the Population Census, which is conducted every five years, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and local governments are preparing for its implementation.
We plan to conduct the Census this autumn in a form where contact between surveyed household members and enumerators will be reduced as much as possible, according to the individual situation of the region, in order to prevent the occurrence and spread of COVID-19 and to ensure the safety and assurance of citizens and the enumerators. We would appreciate your kind understanding and cooperation.
- Enumerators will visit each household from around mid-September for distributing the invitation documents for the Census. The purport of the questionnaire will be explained through intercoms, and the documents will be distributed by putting them into mailboxes and doorposts. If nobody is available, the documents will be put directly into mailboxes and doorposts.
* Where face-to-face explanation becomes necessary, we would like to give it briefly while keeping a certain distance.
- Please send the responses to the survey from households by the due date, which is October 7, via the internet or by mail as far as possible.
* In such cases, enumerators will not visit the household to collect the questionnaire sheet.
