Purpose:The Yearbook is the most comprehensive and systematic compendium of the basic statistical information of Japan, covering wide-ranging fields such as land, population, economy, society, culture, etc.  It is designed to provide the general public with the basic statistical information that shows the situation of Japan, as well as a material to disclose the data sources of the statistical information.

The Yearbook was revived as the Japan Statistical Yearbook in 1949, and has been published annually.
