Total households

  Combination of two-or-more persons households and one-person households

Ownership and utilization of equipments and services related to information technology (IT)

  (Does not include ownership and use of such items for business purposes by households engaged in a business)

Ownership of equipments that are able to use Internet

  "Equipments that are able to use Internet" refers to a device that can be connected to the Internet through use of functions built into the device itself or through the use of connecting equipment.
In terms of "ownership" of such a device, it does not matter if said functions are actually used to access the Internet or not.

Equipments that are able to use Internet

Cell phone /PHS

  Cell or PHS telephone that can connect directly with the Internet

Personal digital assistant (PDA)

  Pocket-book sized information terminal with Internet connection function.

TV game

  TV game that can access the Internet through a built-in modem or use of connecting equipment

TV

  Ownership of equipment that can connect a television with the Internet

Phone/Fax

  Phone that can directly connect a device with the Internet

Others

  Items not covered by the above descriptions, such as car navigation equipment that can connect directly to the Internet

Internet used directly by telephone

  Internet service used directly through such telephones as i(L)-mode, EZweb and vodafone live!

Analog

  Standard telephone line

ISDN

  Integrated Services Digital Network line

xDSL (ADSL, etc.)

  Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL, SDSL, HDSL, VDSL)

  Line using cable television cables
