Footnotes:

/ Revised Report on Industrial Production, Producer's Shipment, Producer's Inventory and Producer's Inventory Ratio is disseminated through the Internet website of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), etc. around the middle of the second month following the reference month (about half a month after the dissemination of preliminary data).
/ Final data are disseminated through the Internet website of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), etc. around the middle of the second month following the reference month (about half a month after the dissemination of preliminary data (http://www.mhlw.go.jp/english/database/db-l/presentation/index.html)).
/ All Commodities of Domestic Corporate Goods Price Index.
/ The data on general government are part of the national accounts data, which are estimated using a variety of basic statistics, and the date of publication of the national accounts depends on those basic statistics. It is impossible to obtain essential basic statistics earlier than is currently done. Moreover, there are no other statistics that serve as appropriate substitutes. Japan is therefore taking a flexibility option for the timeliness of the general government operations data, and will continue to publish the data with a timeliness of nine months. The reference period for this data category refers to the fiscal year.
/ Japan is taking a timeliness flexibility for this data category, and will publish the data within one quarter after the end of the reference quater. Besides, data are processed and released annually as well as quarterly. Japan is therefore taking a periodicity flexibility for this data category, and will publish the figures every quarter.
/ Non-marketable government bonds are generally redeemable on demand or on an installment plan. Non-marketable government bonds are not included in the classification of outstanding debt by maturity (see the DSBB).
/ The classification by original maturity applies only to markable bonds and Fiscal Loan Bonds, respectively.(see the DSBB).
/ As Japan has an extensive branch banking system, only data on money stocks, and loans and discounts are available within one month. (The breakdown of claims on government, other financial corporations, local governments, and other sectors is available 1 month and 10 business days after the end of the reference month. The data on the external position of the banking sector are disseminated 6-7 weekes after the reference month.) In view of the existence of an extensive branch banking system, Japan intends to make use of the "as relevant" provision of the SDDS and will continue to disseminate data on the analytic accounts of the banking sector with the present timeliness.
/The data on loans and discounts cover Japanese city banks, regional banks, regional banksII, and Shinkin banks.
/The data on domestic claims on the government consist of government securities and loans to the Deposit Insurance Corporation (the data include credit to the nonfinancial public enterprises).
/The data on domestic claims on the private sector consist of bills purchased, receivables under resale agreements, Asset-backed securities, commercial paper, corporate bonds, pecuniary trust(stocks held as trust property), pecuniary trusts (index-linked exchange-traded funds held as trust property), pecuniary trusts (Japan real estate investment trusts held as trust property, bills discounted, loans (excluding those to the Deposit Insurance Corporation), and deposit with agencies (the data include claims on banks).
/The data on foreign currency assets owned by the BOJ include foreign currency deposits held at foreign central banks and the Bank for International Settlements, securities issued by foreign governments, and foreign currency mutual funds.
/Final data are disseminated quarterly through the Internet website of the Ministry of Finance (MOF), etc. about 4 months after the end of the reference quarter, and are released at a press conference held by the MOF.
/Data are preliminary when first released, and about one week after the dissemination of the preliminary data are revised. Final data are disseminated through the Internet website (http://www.customs.go.jp/toukei/shinbun/happyou_e.htm) of Japanese Customs of the Ministry of Finance (MOF), when March of the following year.
/3-month forward rate can be calculated by subtracting forward spread (d (dollar discount)) from spot rate or adding forward spread (p (dollar premium)) to spot rate. Daily data are disseminated in the Bank of Japan's press release "Gaikoku Kawase Shikyo".
/Final data are disseminated through the Internet website of the Statistics Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC)(http://www.stat.go.jp/english/data/jinsui/index.htm), etc. about 5 months after the end of the reference month.
