Lesson 6: What does the census investigate?

Most of the questions are tabulated by Optical Character Reader (OCR), which makes them easy to answer!There are twenty questions in 2010! What does the Population Census survey?
The census contains twenty questions, including: - Fifteen questions about household members (sex, year and month of birth, employment status, place of work or schooling, etc.)  - Five questions about the household (number of household members, kind of housing, etc.) These answers are put to use for regional policies regarding industry, employment, social welfare, disaster prevention, and more. In other words, they contain the necessary information to make Japan a pleasant place to live!

Why are these items surveyed?
- Name: Your name is necessary to make sure everyone has been surveyed, prevent duplication, and confirm the contents you have filled in. It is not saved as data. - Whether or not you were employed: This is necessary to understand the economic situation on the national and regional level. It is used to promote employment and other policies. - Place of work or schooling: This is required to calculate the daytime population. In addition to the resident population, it is necessary to know the daytime population to carry out policies such as operation plans for public transportation facilities, the relocation of public facilities, and more.0
So according to what we've found out, it seems that there is a significant meaning for each question!

The Population Census is a census of all the people and households living in Japan. The census results comprise valuable data that is put to use in a variety of fields related to our daily lives, such as child welfare, nursing and medical care for the elderly, and employment measures for young people.
