Lesson 4: Is my personal information protected?

All personal information is strictly protected!Do I need to worry? Will my personal information be divulged to other people?
Don't worry. The Statistics Act stipulates the strict protection of personal information for the Population Census. Census takers do not open the envelopes that contain the questionnaires, but deliver them sealed to the municipality. Furthermore, the duty of confidentiality is imposed on everyone involved in census taking by the Statistics Act.

Here's how your personal information is protected
- Thoroughly obligating census takers to protect confidentiality - Strict management of questionnaires during transport and storage - An independent system for processing data (to prevent unauthorized access) - The submitted questionnaire will be used strictly for statistical purposes and will not be used, under any circumstances, for other purposes including immigration control and law enforcement
A system is in place to protect personal information. After being tabulated, questionnaires are disposed of by dissolving them. They are then made into recycled paper.
